Short animated film section – High school
THE BLIND (2′), 2019 🎬 Lucija Petkoviček (Zaprešić) 📝 The dolls hold something recognizable to everyone in their hands – a screen. A screen from which we can no longer be separated. The dolls represent the living, walking dead who, with white, blind and empty eyes, absorb the light coming from that screen. But isn’t that actually us? Lost in thousands of screens with colorful lights, mesmerized by glittering patterns and entertaining commercials of imaginary reality, as life takes place outside that screen. We are the ones who need to become aware and change ourselves. It’s time to do it. Inspired by a poem of the same name by Charles Baudelaire. 🏆 Expert Jury Award (24th Youth Film Festival & 12th Four River Film Festival)
METAMORPHOSIS (2′), 2019 🎬 Photo Cinema Video Club Zaprešić, Zaprešić 📝 Talks about the world around us that sacrifices itself to copy other people’s ideas and at the same time kills the innovation and potential of its own being. 👁🗨 The Metamorphoses are a great example of an animated film made with stop-animation technique that shows a broken experience in contrast to the creation of metamorphoses, which makes the film special. The end result is excellent and satisfying. 🏆 Youth Jury Award (24th Youth Film Festival & 12th Four River Film Festival)
FRANK (6′), 2019 🎬 Filippo Di Piramo (Italy) 📝 Every time Frank looks at himself, he falls into a state of mental alienation: he enters his own Ego, tormented by the paranoia that grips his mind. 👁🗨 Frank is a wonderful film derived from the hallucinatory arts. The story is clear thanks to the graphic and animation choices. It talks about mental problems like paranoia and excessive thinking. The song also fits perfectly into the course of the film. 🏆 Youth Jury Award (24th Youth Film Festival & 12th Four River Film Festival)
